A love song to a favourite niece of mine who as a young teenager set up a charity in Ghana, traveled round Africa and also traveled South America. This song is sung from the perspective of her younger self imagining these things before they happened. Testimony to the power of her will and imagination...and a total inspiration to the rest us.

Lyrics

Two hemispheres

The days shorten and darken
So cold that it cuts to the bone
I know that I shouldn’t moan
It’s an easy life, really, after all

Some teenage girls dream of boys and pop idols
Not I, why, my aim is to save the whole world
In my mind, dream of Africa
My inner eye travels South America

I strive for warmer climes
Where the sunlight can kiss my skin
Manufacture melanin
In a Vitamin D factory

Some adolescent girls just want to stay home
Not I,
Why not set up a charity
In Ghana?

In my mind, dream of Africa
My inner eye travels South America

The human brain is made up of
Two parts, lobes or hemispheres,
Yeah!
Logic on the left,
And on the right, intuition
We are both sides

In my mind, dream of Africa
My inner eye travels South America
In my time, I hope to find
Myself
Tanned
In the southern hemisphere

Two hemispheres
Yeah!
Two hemispheres
Yeah!
